I am leaving for Switzerland tomorrow. Yep, Brataepfel, Brunsli, people talking nonsense but in a very charming and friendly way and mountains with a little bit of snow.
And there won't be any blogging since my fathers is kind of a Dinosaur that uses Netscape Navigator 4x on MacOs 9y. That just doesn't get along with this blog.
And of course: no programming, no Latex. I really should think about buying a laptop.
So for the next time why don't you stick to my neighbours:

Would you fall in love with somebody who is much smarter than you?
Especially if he/she does work in the same field as you do?
Would you fall in love with your superior?
Would that happen to you if you knew that that person is smarter or that that person is your boss?
(It could be that you just fall in love with somebody without knowing that he/she is working in your company on a higher charge than you and you only learn it later. That's not what I want to know) The question is do you find it attractive if somebody is smarter/more influential/more experienced than you are?

I kind of got accostumed to not blogging anything during the last month. Well, yes of course the world didn't miss a lot because of that and I didn't neither I must confess. But I tried to do a real effort tonight and updated my blogroll. (kind of in-advance-new-years-resolution). Well, there is not much to it, since I am not a very assiduous blog reader. And I must confess I don't see the point in having a very large list of blogs I never look at on this site. But I changed some old links an added a new one

Life on the Lattice of Matthew Nobes.

I didn't have a close look at it, but he is doing lattice gauge theory. just what I am trying to do. So I must have him in my blogroll.

(Well yes, that's two month no that I started my Diploma thesis in the AG COM at HUB, but more on this another time)
Next time I will rather search for some nice European blogs.

In the last weeks I used to have a kind of "song of the weekend": A piece of music I can't prevent myself from listening to over and over again. Two weeks ago this was "German Dance in C major" from Schubert. This week it's a song called "Wremja dozhdja" of a certain W. P. Lipka. That one is on a mixed CD Wo gave to me last week. I don't know who this Lipka guy is nor what the song is about (I think it's Russian), but the song is wonderful.

About

My name is Magdalena Luz. I grew up in Switzerland. I studied physics at Humboldt University Berlin, where I used to live in "Nordkapstrasse" (North Cape street). That's how this blog got its name. After a short intermezzo in Copenhagen, DK, I live now in the amazing city of Wuppertal. This is a place the wild, wild West of Germany, built on 7 hills, (which is really the only thing it has in common with Rome) It is populated by the strange species of homo germanicus occidens communis, also known as 'gemeiner Wessi'. And even with her it is light years away from ever being like Berlin.
