who is alive?
Baby animals are so incredibly cute. Here is Knut the
new superstar from Berlin Zoo. But wait who is here really alive?
(I have stolen the picture from
Spiegel online, but they have it probabely from the Zoo... And they again say it's ok to use them if you use it for their and Knuts publicity which I hereby do.)
Bergische Statuen
It's high time to upate this blog
This entire Denmark episode was nothing but a big crisis, with a very unsatisfiable (work) situation. So after a long fight with myself, I decided by the end of the year to grab the opportunity I got to change it, and I left

and moved to...

Zürich?
No, that is
Wuppertal. A place with a very bad reputation in Germany. It's believed to be very ugly and very boring. It's only famous for its Schwebebahn.

All in all, only slightly better than Bielefeld (most Germans even believe that that place does not exist). We will see how it really is. Until now I have just been running up and down the hills here trying to fix at least some things in my flat or at work not being able to concentrate really on something. But there are some remarkable things: I compiled a linux kernel for the first time in my life and once I had found out how to get the right sources with
SUSE it wasn't even that difficult. I might do it again...
Why this? because I have an incredibly fast monster below my desk (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz, 4GB RAM), but it was designed to run as a cluster node not as a Desktop computer and hence we had every kind of problem to get such things as USB ports running. Now as far as I can see it runs all fine under SUSE 10.2 except for the onboard sound device... but I could finally charge my ipod, and get the photos out of the camera...
Now I just want some things in my flat fixed (my landlord always apologizes at the phone for not doing anything, but keeps on not doing anything), a computer at home (NBI didn't want to sell me my Nepomuk for a good price, in fact for no price at all, they prefer to keep it hidden in a shelf somewhere, which is a shame. Nobody (at least from the people there) will be able to set it up so well as it was, that's my own privat little triumph)
a phone/internet line,
a stereo, and some shelves to keep my things on which are now distributed all over the place.
